Tetrapeptide-40

Tetrapeptide-40 is a compound of four amino acids. Like other tetrapeptides, tetrapeptide-40 is pharmacologically active. In the skin the peptide inhibits the release of interleukins. These are released by the immune system to organise an inflammation with which possible pathogens are eliminated. In the process, new blood vessels are formed and collagen is broken down. This visibly leads to skin redness and the formation of fine veins (telangiectasia). Not only environmental toxins, but also UV radiation is able to set this inflammation cascade in motion.

Tetrapeptide 40 counteracts these inflammatory effects. Thus it visibly reduces undesired skin redness and veins.
