Shea Butter

The shea tree grows in the savannahs of tropical Africa. It reaches a height of up to 25 metres and an age of up to 300 years. It forms a thick bark, which even protects it from steppe fires. It only bears its first fruits at the age of 25. They contain plum-sized fruit kernels, the shea butter nuts.

The nuts are used to make shea butter, an ivory-coloured lard mass that melts at body temperature. The valuable butter is rich in various fatty acids, which have anti-inflammatory effects among other things. And like jojoba oil, shea butter has a sun protection factor that naturally protects the skin from UV radiation and thus from aging. All these qualities make shea butter an ideal moisturizer, which leaves the skin soft and supple and also protects it from harmful environmental influences.
