RETINYL PALMITATE

Retinyl palmitate, also called vitamin A palmitate, is obtained by transesterification of palmitic acid (a fatty acid) to retinyl acetate. Retinyl acetate is in turn produced from retinal, which is synthesized from beta-carotene.

The oily, yellow or brownish-yellow liquid has a positive anti-aging effect: in cosmetic products the substance improves the appearance of aged or blemished skin.
