INONOTUS OBLIQUUS (MUSHROOM) EXTRACT

The Leaning Schillerporling (Inonotus obliquus) is a brown-black fungus that prefers to colonize birches or alders. It usually thrives in colder climates in the northern hemisphere and is often found in mountain forests. In Russia, Scandinavia, Central and Eastern Europe as well as in Japan, Korea and Central Asia, it has a circumbore distribution. In folk medicine, the fungus, also known as Chaga, is regarded as a remedy for cancer.

The extract obtained from this fungus is packed with valuable minerals such as calcium, magnesium, copper and potassium. It is also rich in antioxidants, polysaccharides and beta-glucan, which is why it is often used as an anti-aging active ingredient in skin care cosmetics. Beta-glucan stimulates the fibroblasts to synthesize collagen and boosts cell metabolism, which helps the skin to retain its natural elasticity and resilience.

Like beta-glucan, polysaccharides also play an important role in regulating the moisture balance. Plant polysaccharides form a fine film on the skin, which immediately makes it appear firmer and more even. The protective film also prevents the skin from losing moisture and drying out.
