Amino Acids

Amino acids are the building blocks of life. When they combine like pearls to form a chain, they form proteins. These are partly elaborately formed proteins that determine the metabolism and shape of all living things.

The development of plant and animal proteins requires twenty different amino acids. Fortunately, our body can produce some of them itself. Others, the so-called essential amino acids, must be taken in with food.

Amino acids are also very important for skin care: the amino acid glutamine, for example, ensures firm skin and regulates the acid-base balance. The amino acids arginine and carnitine in turn form creatine which stimulates the production of collagen.

By the way: the first amino acid was isolated by two French researchers in 1805 from the juice of asparagus. Appropriately, the called the acid Asparagine.
