PANTHENOL

Panthenol is a provitamin that the human body converts into pantothenic acid, the actual vitamin B5. This vitamin is involved in many metabolic processes in the body (cf. calcium pantothenate). A deficiency can be noticed by a tingling and stinging sensation in the feet, the so-called burning feet syndrome.

In 1931 a biochemist discovered the growth-promoting power of vitamin B5 in yeasts. This can also be demonstrated in panthenol, the precursor to vitamin B5. Applied to the skin, it supports the regeneration of skin cells and thus contributes to the regeneration of tissue – an effect that is noticeable in rapid wound healing. Panthenol also relieves itching and has an anti-inflammatory effect.
