ALLANTOIN

Allantoin is a natural active ingredient. It is found in various plants, but especially in wallwort (also: comfrey). In ancient times this plant was used to heal injured ligaments and tendons. The allantoin it contains has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and decongestant properties. On the other hand, the active ingredient stimulates cell formation and cell regeneration. This ability also benefits stressed skin: even with everyday micro lesions or irritations of the skin, allantoin stimulates the granulation tissue to form new skin cells.

By the way: the name allantoin is derived from the allantois. This is a urinary bladder which is only found in the embryos of mammals, reptiles and birds. The body fluid contained in it was called allantoin by French researchers around 1800.
